Can you tell me what pump is in the 106 drive as Mercruiser uses a hi pressure, low volume pump in old model Gen l and a lo pressure , hi volume pump in Gen ll. and Bravo.This makes a difference in what thermostat housing is used?

17.04.2012· The water flow was measured and was around 8.5 gpm to 9.5 at idle. The problem was the Thermostat Housing ! The Alpha One Gen One must use the "T" ball thermostat per a Mercruiser bulletin. I Changed the housing and all temps fell right in place. Problem solved. The 106 has a Hi press, low volume pump. The Gen ll uses a low press, Hi volume pump.
